Laura Abrams, founder of The Abrams Law Firm, has been representing public entities in Ohio since 1993. She was named an Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star in the area of "Cities & Municipalities" in 2005. She is presently the Law Director of Springfield Township, Ohio, the General Counsel for The Ohio Plan, Inc., and the Mayor's Court Magistrate for the Village of Glendale. She regularly provides training on employment law and Ohio public entity issues to public entities throughout Ohio.
Background
Ms. Abrams has argued cases before the Ohio Supreme Court and has presented cases to the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth and Ninth Circuits, and the First, Second and Twelfth District Courts of Appeals in Ohio. Ms. Abrams is a cum laude graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she was an editor of the Law Review. After graduation, she clerked for the Court of Appeals of Ohio, Second Appellate District. She left the Court to join the nationally-recognized firm of Sirkin, Pinales, Mezibov & Schwartz, where she eventually led the firm's governmental and administrative law practice before leaving to found The Abrams Law Firm.
Affiliations and Community Activities
Ms. Abrams is an active member of the legal community in Southwest Ohio. She is admitted to practice in all courts and agencies in the State of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth and Ninth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the Ohio bar and the Cincinnati Bar Association. She has served on the Cincinnati Bar Association's Grievance Committee since 1998, and served a term as its Chair. She has served as a volunteer referee for the Hamilton County Juvenile Court Unofficial Referee Program since 1996. She was a member of Class X of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers and was active in developing the Cincinnati Public Schools Truancy Mediation Program in 2006. She has also been a member of the Batavia Township Board of Zoning Appeals since 2001, and currently serves as its Chair.
